7 Cute Hairstyles for Different Hair Types
Braids, barrettes, blowouts and so much more.
It’s impossible not to get sucked down the rabbit hole that is cute hairstyles on Instagram or Pinterest. We’d be lying if we didn’t spend days (cumulatively, obvi) tagging, pinning and saving #HairInspo for daily looks and dressy occasions. Good news for you though, because we picked out seven of our fave hairstyle tips right here.
Look #1: Bobby Pins, Clips, Barrettes — Oh My
You know when you’re on day two of unwashed hair and feeling tempted to give in and wash it? Don’t! Think again! Dress hair up with gold bobby pins, tortoise shell clips or oversized barrettes instead. This look works on virtually every hair type, and it adds an instant touch of modern femininity. Use a hair texture spray for a weightless flexible hold.

Look #2: Sleek Straight Hairstyles for Long Hair
The best way to blow out hair is to decrease the blow-dry time. We’re big fans of doing less for more, so we appreciate shortcuts. To help get that perfect salon-quality sleekness, coat hair with a heat-protecting mist, section your hair into parts using clips and blow dry each part using a paddle brush. Run a straightener through it to finish.

Look #3: Half Up, Half Down Hairstyles for Curly Hair
Let your natural curls be free. But add a little oomph. The It girls’ guide to natural curly hairstyles is just two steps:
1. Work a curl enhancing mousse through tresses to help hydrate and hold without a crunchy feel.
2. Wrap a small section of hair into a top knot. Done!

Look #4: Hair Scarves FTW
Whether you’re running to the farmers’ market or giving a big speech at work, a hair scarf is your BFF accessory. It’s both practical sophistication with an unexpected edge. Plus, you can wear it so many different ways. After complementing your straight hairstyles or a sleek ponytail with the scarf of your choice, you’ll want to spritz a finishing mist all over to help lock in volume and body.

Look #5: Braids for Days
Sometimes the weather isn’t on your side. Don’t worry. A quick braid can save the day. And we’re kind of loving the thick and chunky pigtail braids. While braids are often perfect hairstyles for long hair, they can also work well for wavy hairstyles and sleek hairstyles. To make it happen, part your hair into two even sections down the center of your head. Then, break up each side into three smaller sections. Weave them together until you reach the nape. At this point, you can either continue braiding until you reach the end or you can pony them up and let your strands hang free. Whatever you decide, be sure to stay frizz-free with a finishing spray that helps to combat humidity.

Look #6: Tousled Hair Pairs Well With Everything
Soft, bouncy curls will never go out of style. We know, never say never. But we’re pretty confident in this statement. How to hold curls is always the biggest challenge though, right? First, if you have naturally straight(ish) hair, you’ll want to use a wide-barrel curling iron to create loose curls. If you have naturally curly hair, you might want to wet a few face-framing strands and wrap them around your finger for definition. Hold curls in place with a setting spray for a soft, smooth finish.

Look #7: Pixie, Please
Amplify your short hair styles with a little extra texture and movement. We love a good molding paste because it can help transform flat, fine hair into spectacular definition and structure. The best part? It takes very little effort — which again, we love. That means more time for coffee or yoga or admiring our succulent garden.
